A colourful Two-Day Wedding Adventure with C+A

When it comes to making your wedding truly your own, Cissie and Alex’s celebration is the perfect example. Their two-day wedding was bursting with personality, heart, and plenty of surprises. From an intimate garden ceremony complete with a cat ring-bearer to a reception filled with cultural traditions, it was a dream to photograph their story. If you’re planning a wedding and want ideas for something unique, you’re in for a treat!

A Stunning Garden Ceremony

Cissie and Alex kicked off their wedding with a ceremony in the most picturesque setting: Alex’s parents’ meticulously curated garden. You could see the love and care that went into every corner of this gorgeous space. The flowers were so stunning I found myself asking Alex’s mum for gardening tips! The intimate guest list included their closest friends and family, some of whom had travelled all the way from the States and Canada to celebrate. With Tasha the Celebrant leading the vows and their cat, Leonidas, stealing the show by delivering the rings, it was an unforgettable start to their wedding celebrations.

A Touch of Tradition

After exchanging vows, the couple incorporated a meaningful Chinese tea ceremony, honouring Cissie’s heritage and families. It gave me the chance to capture some incredible candid moments of their parents and loved ones.

A Vibrant Reception at the Restoration Yard

Fast forward to the weekend, and it was time for the big party! Cissie and Alex hosted their reception at the stunning Restoration Yard in Dalkeith, a perfect venue for combining elegance with a relaxed vibe. Guests enjoyed drinks in the garden before heading inside for dinner, but the real highlight? A surprise traditional Chinese lion dance. Let me tell you, it’s not every day I get to photograph something so full of colour, movement, and energy. Watching the guests’ reactions—especially those seeing it for the first time—was a joy.

Speeches and a Ceilidh to Remember

No wedding is complete without some speeches, and Cissie and Alex’s reception delivered. Laughter and happy tears everywhere as family and friends shared their stories. Then it was time to hit the dance floor! A ceilidh is always a brilliant way to bring people together, and it was so much fun seeing the non-Scottish guests embrace the high-energy moves. These moments made for some of the most chaotic and joyful images of the day.

A Celebration of Inclusivity and Connection

What stood out most to me about Cissie and Alex’s wedding was how inclusive and personal it felt. Every detail reflected their story, from Leonidas’ ring delivery to the tea ceremony and lion dance. It was a celebration that brought together different traditions, cultures, and people, creating an atmosphere of pure joy and connection. Capturing these moments felt like such a privilege.
