Colourful + Luxe wedding at Turin Castle

Rain or Shine: Jac and Robert’s Colourful and Joyful Turin Castle Wedding

When Jac and Robert planned their wedding at the exclusive-use, five-star Turin Castle in Scotland, they knew it would be a day to remember. And oh, it was! From handmade confetti to smoke bomb fun, their wedding was a perfect blend of elegance, laughter, and personal touches – with a few raindrops thrown in for good measure - I mean, it’s Scotland afterall. If you’re searching for inspiration for a relaxed yet modern wedding captured in a documentary style, this one might be for you.

A Five-Star Venue with an Unforgettable Backdrop

Turin Castle, located in Forfar in the heart of Scotland, provided the perfect setting for Jac and Robert’s big day. This exclusive-use venue offers luxury and privacy, with immaculate grounds and stunning interiors. The entire wedding party got ready on-site, which not only added to the convenience but also allowed for some brilliant candid moments before the ceremony for both sides of the wedding party. Their ceremony was held in the garden, surrounded by lush greenery, the couple’s vows were made all the more magical by a brief shower. Guests pulled out their umbrellas, creating a super cute scene that added even more character to the photos.

Personal Touches That Made the Day Unique

Jac, the bride, put her heart into every detail of the day, including handmaking all the confetti for the epic confetti throw after the ceremony. It was a true labour of love, and the result was incredible! Watching the newlyweds emerge to a sea of fluttering petals made for one of the most joyful moments of the day – and the photos speak for themselves. It’s little touches like these that really reflect a couple’s personality and make their wedding feel one-of-a-kind. However, Jac said afterwards she’s not sure she’d have the patience to make it all again!

Drinks, Lawn Games, and Relaxed Vibes

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks on the terrace while playing lawn games. The relaxed atmosphere gave everyone a chance to mingle and soak in the beauty of the venue and the sun that had made an appearance by this point. Meanwhile, I whisked Jac and Robert away for a short walk around the castle grounds for their couples pics. We captured some portraits in front of the huge rhododendron bushes that really embraced their authenticity and laughter - no awkward posing - all while keeping them stylish and timeless. Then it was back to the celebrations, where a few speeches and a delicious dinner from Platter + Pop awaited.

Adding Fun and Colour with Smoke Bomb Photos

If there’s one thing that makes a wedding gallery stand out, it’s those moments of colour and playfulness. After dinner, we headed back outside with the bridal party for some smoke bomb photos. These shots were full of laughter, movement, and vibrant colours - all the elements needed for great photos! - adding an extra layer of variety to the day. 10/10 recommend!

Ending the Night with a Ceilidh

No Scottish wedding would be complete without a ceilidh, and Jac and Robert’s was no exception! Guests packed the dancefloor, spinning and twirling to the lively music of Kilter Ceilidh Band. It was the perfect way to cap off a day filled with love, laughter, and celebration.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Lou for our wedding, we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results! She captured every special moment
beautifully, from candid shots to natural posed photos. Her professionalism and warm personality made us and our guests feel so comfortable. The photos
were delivered quickly, and we were blown away by the quality. Lou is incredibly professional, talented, reliable and kind. We would recommend her to
anyone looking for a photographer.
